Meet the Artist.

Hello

Artist Biography

Jade Armstrong believes our environments shape us. She imagines a world where art, immersive experiences, and biology come together to help people flourish and enhance wellbeing everywhere they live, work, play, and gather.

Her practice explores how light, colour, and immersive experiences shift the emotional tone of a space. Drawing on research in neuroaesthetics, psychology, and sensory design, Jade creates installations that support wellbeing and anchor people to the present moment. Her works span light sculptures, participatory installations, and multi-sensory experiences.

With a background in marketing, Jade brings strategic thinking, emotional connection, and audience engagement to her practice. She retrained as an artist and completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at RMIT University. While studying during the COVID-19 pandemic, she created ConnectUs, a conversational board game helping students reconnect. It has sparked conversation for over 5,000 people and has been licensed across Australia and Vietnam.

Through atmosphere design, Jade’s light sculptures Distant Rays and Urban Serenity bathe audiences in soft pink hues to invite calm amidst the noise of modern life. Her work has been presented by NGV Design Week, the City of Melbourne, and at the Melbourne Fringe Festival opening ceremony. She was awarded first prize in BMW Group’s YourMelbourne competition and has undertaken residencies at Arteles Creative Centre (Finland) and River Studios (Melbourne). She is currently delivering a year-long exhibition with Science Gallery Bengaluru featuring Forbidden Desire, a sugar-blown sculpture series exploring beauty, indulgence, and impermanence. Jade creates art that meets people where they are and transforms how they feel.

Artist CV - Jade Armstrong

I believe in a more connected, creative and mindful world.

As a British-Australian artist, my purpose is to inspire others to slow down and appreciate the beauty in their daily lives. Through my art, I strive to create a more creative, connected, and mindful world. My practice involves experimenting with various mediums, including immersive sculptures, community-based public art, and interactive digital works, all focused on exploring the passage of time and the materiality of nature. I aim to create striking textures that engage with themes of historical narratives, social observations, and collective responsibility for the environment.

My work is concerned with the passage of time, the materiality of nature and finding striking textures. I enjoy the process of experimentation and being surprised by unexpected outcomes. The themes engaged through my practice include historical narratives, social observations, and collective responsibility for the environment.
